Why do you need to have a tooth that has had endodontic therapy retreated? Usually there is a problem with reoccurring infection from the original problem that did not heal, or there is a decay or leakage that is contaminating the root canal system.
How can we help? First we do a critical evaluation and diagnosis, using digital imaging of the tooth and the surrounding bone and tissue. Imaging is done two ways for our diagnosis, periapical images which show the tooth in question and Dental Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). This allows both 2-D and 3-D evaluation. We can diagnose root fractures, untreated canals, anatomic anomalies, and sinus pathosis which may be contributing to your symptoms. If your tooth can be saved,we will remove the old root canal filling, reinstrument and sterilize the root canal, and then refill the root canal space with a new sterile biocompatible filling. This allows your body to heal and return to normal function. As treatment proceeds if you are having no improvement, you must advise your doctor so alternative treatment can be discussed.
Some sinus pathology or infections require referral to your physician or an ENT specialist. Images taken here will be of help to the phsycian and you can take them with you.
